A 30-year-old man originally from Split Lake drowned while swimming with a group of people in the Burntwood River July 29, police say.
Thompson RCMP received the report of a possible drowning near the Miles Hart Bridge around 11:20 a.m.
Investigation determined that a group of people were on the shore of the river and began to swim when the 30-year-old man began struggling and multiple bystanders pulled him out of the water.
RCMP and Thompson Fire & Emergency Services arrived and began resuscitation attempts. The man was transported to Thompson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
