People in Thompson looking for a place to call their own have a new option now and can set up private tours at the new Riverside Court condominium complex at 164 Nickel Rd.
The ribbon cutting ceremony for the new complex, created by Coryana Enterprises Ltd., took place on July 9 and was attended by over 70 business people, city councillors and other individuals. On July 16 an open house was held with around 150 people coming out to check out the condominiums.
Sasha Bimman of Bimman Real Estate Services Inc. in Toronto and a group of investors purchased Corayana Enterprises Ltd. and the 133 yellow-clad Corayana apartments on Copper and Nickel roads earlier this year. Up to 16 renovated units are to be tested as condominiums," Bimman said in April.
"Thus far we've had a tremendous response," says Melanie Bekevich, the marketing director and community liaison at Riverside Court, who relocated to Thompson and lives in one of the condominiums. "The people of Thompson can see the quality we offer when they walk through the door. We are consistently told that the accommodations we offer are the best in Thompson."
Bekevich says she is not surprised at this, because of the 20 months representatives from Coryana Enterprises spent in Thompson researching the unique needs and aspects of the community.
"We spoke with the City of Thompson, the RCMP, the Thompson Neighbourhood Renewal Corporation (TNRC) and the major employers in Thompson. We have now designed a product that we are confident meets the needs for quality housing in Thompson," she adds.
All suites at Riverside Court include hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, in-suite laundry, dishwashers and heated bathroom floors. Bekevich says the exterior of the building is also being renovated and a lobby has already been added to the facility. She says there will also be a state of the art security system in place that can be monitored from anywhere in the world over the Internet, which has already come in handy.
"We had a harmless incident where some kids put some cake on a staff member's car. We were able to review the footage from the previous evening and find out who it was," Bekevich explains.
One bedroom condominiums at Riverside Court start from $139,900 or approximately $399 bi-weekly including condominium fees. All of the suites, including one bedroom, two bedroom and three bedroom facilities, are priced under $200,000.
She also says there are more things coming up on the horizon for Riverside Court, including designing a residence for citizens aged 55 years old and upwards after hearing a lot of feedback from that age group at the open house. Bekevich has since been in consultation with the Seniors Resource Council to learn more about the needs of the senior community before the housing project is officially announced.
