Donations bring music and art to Thompson hospital

Operating rooms get a smart speaker and psychiatric unit receives art supplies.

The Thompson Health Auxiliary made donations to two Thompson General Hospital departments just days before Christmas.

First to get an item checked off their wishlist on Dec. 19 were the operating rooms, who were recipients of a Bose Bluetooth smart speaker that cost about $535.

Santa’s little helpers made their next stop at the psychiatric unit, which received $415 worth of art supplies such as sketchbooks, markers and paints.

Wendy Lucas of the health auxiliary said the speaker arrived just that morning and will enable visiting surgeons to easily listen to their own music while they work.

“We were thankful that we could complete that donation before Christmas,” Lucas said.

The psychiatric unit donations will help provide more activities for patients.

“A lot of them are very artistic and they are lacking art supplies for them,” said Lucas.
