Thompson RCMP were alerted by a civilian search team just before noon July 8 that skeletal remains had been found in a wooded area just off a hydro power line east of Thompson.
The search team, initiated by the Manto Sipi Cree Nation of Gods River, was in the area conducting a ground search for Christopher James, a missing Gods River youth who was last seen in Thompson July 3.
The area where the body was found has been secured for further investigation by members of the Thompson RCMP Forensic Identification Section, along with a team of forensic anthropologists from the Heritage branch of the provincial government.
Investigation is continuing at this time.
