A search warrant executed at a residence in Thompson’s Westwood area around 2 p.m. Oct. 22 turned up suspected mining explosives, cocaine and 14 firearms, one of which was loaded, Thompson RCMP say.
The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit from Winnipeg was consulted and an outside expert attended the home to safely secure the explosives and remove them from the home.
An undisclosed amount of cash and drug paraphernalia were also seized.
A man and a woman*, both from Thompson, were charged with three counts of unsafe firearm storage, two counts of possessing property obtained by crime, and two counts of possessing explosives without a lawful excuse. Those charges have since been stayed with seized items forfeited to police.
