The man who was shot by a Thompson RCMP officer on Oct. 25 was arrested Oct. 31 and faces four charges resulting from the incident.
Raymond Michelle, 30, who was hospitalized after being shot around 2:45 p.m. Oct. 25 and later released, was arrested at a Thompson business around 6 p.m. Sunday night and is charged with one count of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
The officer who shot Michelle was delivering legal documents to a person unconnected to Michelle when a member of the public told him someone with a knife was in the area, police say. A knife was seized at the scene after Michelle was shot.
Michelle remains in custody and Thompson RCMP continue to investigate, with the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba taking carriage of the investigation into the shooting*.
