After months of organizing small fundraisers and charity barbecues, Northern Inn & Steakhouse owner Earl Colbourne finally submitted a grand total of $2,200 to the Thompson Humane Society Oct 19.
While Colbourne generated the majority of these funds through his own events, this total amount also includes other contributions like a $500 donation from Can-Do Plumbing.
Thompson Humane Society board chair Oswald Sawh accepted this money in person at the Northern Inn and told the Nickel Belt News that these funds will go towards paying for the non-profit’s new accessible bathtub for dogs.
Colbourne himself is a self-professed animal lover, who isn’t counting out the possibility of organizing similar fundraisers in the future.
Tragically, one of Colbourne’s dogs, Jack, died shortly after this exchange took place. On the morning of Oct. 21, he was run over by a vehicle just outside the Northern Inn.
Colbourne originally adopted Jack from the Thompson Humane Society back in December 2011.
