Four new family physicians from India, Egypt, Sri Lanka and Nigeria have arrived at the Northern Regional Health Authority's (NRHA) Thompson Clinic in the Thompson Plaza to practise medicine.
Dr. Hussam Azzam, vice-president of medical services and chief medical officer for the Northern Regional Health Authority, predicted "citizens of the area will give them a rousing Northern Manitoba welcome over these coming weeks" in a June 3 news release sent out by Glenn Hildebrand, of G. R. Hildebrand Consulting Group Inc. of Winnipeg, on behalf of the Northern Regional Health Authority.
Azzam was also quoted as saying, "Physician recruitment is a methodical process we are continually working on and these most recent arrivals are the culmination of literally months of efforts by a number of medical service team members."
Doctors Manohar Krishnan, Ragai Nazmy, Visrul Humaid and Monisola Ajao have all begun their practices at the Thompson Clinic in the Thompson Plaza, also known as the Plaza Mall.
Dr. Krishnan received his medical education in India, graduating in 1995;
Dr. Nazmy received his medical education in Egypt, graduating in 1990;
Dr. Humaid received her medical education in Sri Lanka, graduating in 2003;
Dr. Ajao received her medical education in Nigeria, graduating in 1994.
