Police and firefighters rescued a 17-year-old woman from the Burntwood River in Thompson Oct. 26, RCMP say.
Thompson RCMP were notified around 6:30 p.m. that day that there was a person in distress in the river on the north edge of Thompson, near the Miles Hart Bridge. Responding officers heard the woman in the water and launched boats along with Thompson Fire & Emergency Services firefighter-paramedics. They found and rescued the woman, who was struggling to remain afloat. Police believe she was in the water for about 15 minutes.
