Manitoba RCMP will be using their social media feeds to highlight the unsolved 1986 murder of Kerrie Ann Brown on Oct. 16, the 30th anniversary of her last day alive.
Fifteen-year-old Kerrie Ann disappeared after leaving a house party in Thompson on Oct. 16, 1986 and her body was found two days later out near the stables. She had been sexually assaulted and beaten and her murderer has not been caught.
Manitoba RCMP will send out messages relating to Kerrie Ann via Twitter and Facebook at about the same time that events actually occurred when she was murdered in 1986.
“My family has never recovered from the death of my sister. It is our hope that through this new initiative, someone will remember seeing my sister that night “said Trevor Brown, Kerrie Ann’s older brother. “I know someone is out there that has information, I want them to know who my sister truly was, I want them to come forward.”
“We never give up. If there is a new way to get information out to the public about a case we support it” said Const. Janna Amirault, the RCMP’s lead investigator into the murder. “It is a unique approach that I hope will raise awareness and put pressure on those who have information to come forward.”
The first three messages being sent out Oct. 16 are as follows:
