Two sites were chosen this year, the Wonton Place and our own library.
Joan Dawson, president of the local Retired Teachers’ Association, led the charge.
“This year we chose edible plants, flowers, herbs as well as plants which do not normally grow here,” said Dawson. “The kids really enjoyed feeling the silk on the corn plants, picking and eating the tomatoes, smelling and nibbling the mint.”
At one point Joan was explaining a jalapeno pepper turning red to a passing library user. The young mom was so engrossed that she did not notice her young daughter had wandered off.
“Oh where, oh where?”
The young lady was eventually found in the library, where she was supposed to be.
