The City of Thompson announced Dec. 20 that it has reached a three-year contract agreement with Thompson Fire & Emergency Services employees running from Jan. 1, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2024.
The new contract includes raises of 2.5 per cent each year and annual reimbursement of $200 for licensing fees with the new College of Paramedics in Manitoba. The positions of captain, senior communications officer and senior alarm room attendant also received one-time labour market wage rate adjustments.
“We want to thank [International Association of Firefighters Local 2200] for reaching a negotiated settlement with the City of Thompson,” said Mayor Colleen Smook. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Fire & Emergency Services, and continuing to deliver highly qualified and professional emergency services to the residents of Thompson.”
IAFF Local 2200 represents 29 firefighter/paramedics, communications and alarm room employees working for the City of Thompson.
“We acknowledge the city’s committee and council for their participation through the bargaining process,” said the Thompson Professional Firefighters Association Facebook page. “Our parties came to a fair and reasonable contract agreement.”
