A 29-year-old man from Cross Lake armed with a knife was pepper sprayed and tasered by Thompson RCMP officers responding to an assault call Dec. 28.
Police were called to a residence on Princeton Drive just before 8 p.m. and were told that a man was assaulting a woman in the home.
Upon entering the residence, police encountered the male, who was holding a knife and didn’t comply with their commands. He was pepper sprayed first before officers used a conducted energy weapon (similar to a taser) to subdue the man and arrest him.
The alleged assailant was remanded into custody on charges of breaking and entering, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats.
The 31-year-old woman who was assaulted was taken to hospital for treatment.
