A man stopped by Thompson RCMP on Highway 6 near Paint Lake Jan. 23 is facing multiple charges after a search of his vehicle turned up about 280 grams of cocaine, weapons and drug paraphernalia.
The 32-year-old male driver was pulled over around 10:25 a.m. Saturday morning.
Matthew Govereau is charged with possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, drug trafficking, two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possessing property obtained by crime. He is also charged with unlawful transportation of liquor in a motor vehicle under the Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act and for non-essential travel north of the 53rd parallel under the Public Health Act. He was remanded into custody and Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
