Thompson RCMP were dispatched after a report July 25 at 7:20 a.m. of a youth trying to force entry to a residence on Ospwagon Drive in the Old Burntwood Trailer Court, says Sgt. Rob Collen, media spokesman for the detachment.
Police attended and apprehended a male youth after a foot chase, Collen says. "Further investigation with another complainant revealed the same youth had entered another nearby residence, and threatened the homeowner with a knife when he was confronted. No one was injured during these incidents. "
A 15-year-old male youth, from Thompson, has been charged with two charges of break and enter, assault with a weapon, obstructing a peace officer, possession of burglary tools, possession of a weapon, mischief under $5,000 and two charges of failing to comply with an undertaking.
He was remanded in custody to appear in court and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
In a separate incident July 25, a vehicle struck a traffic light post and alcohol was involved, Collen says.
Thompson RCMP were dispatched to a single vehicle motor vehicle accident at Thompson and Westwood drives about 2 p.m. A traffic light post was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling in the eastbound lane.
The lone occupant, an adult female driver, was taken by ambulance from the scene, and sustained serious injuries. Excessive speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the accident, Collen says.
The driver complied with a Criminal Code demand by police for a blood sample, which will be sent for analysis for alcohol content. No charges are laid at this time, and the incident is still under investigation.
