Lychuk sixth in high jump

Brooke Lychuk of R.D. Parker Collegiate claimed the top result for her school at the 2009 Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association MILK provincial championships in Winnipeg June 5-6, clearing 1.45 metres in the varsity girls' high jump.

Brooke Lychuk of R.D. Parker Collegiate claimed the top result for her school at the 2009 Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association MILK provincial championships in Winnipeg June 5-6, clearing 1.45 metres in the varsity girls' high jump.

The Trojans' Ryan Templeton, the only member of the boys' team to qualify for the city provincials, finished seventh in the junior varsity boys' 100-metre hurdles, completing the race in a time of 16.56 seconds.

Payton Chuckrey, RDPC's other athlete at the meet, was ninth in the varsity girls' high jump with a height of 1.40 metres.

At the rural provincials in Dauphin a week earlier, Templeton finished fourth in the junior varsity boys' 100-metre hurdles with a time of 16.31 seconds, while Chuckrey and Lychuk qualified in the varsity girls' high jump, with jumps of 1.41 and 1.38 metres respectively, with Chuckrey finishing fourth and Lychuk tying for fifth place with four other athletes.

The top five finishers at rural provincials qualified for the Winnipeg championships.

Morgan Trout of Otter Nelson River School in Cross Lake finished in the top 10 of all three varsity boys' events he ran, completing the 800 metres in 2:08.57 to finish 10th, the 1,500 metres in 4:31.58 to come seventh and cracking the top five in the 3,000 metres, which he completed in 9:48.35.

Trout won the rural provincial championship in the varsity boys' 3,000 metres in Dauphin May 29-30.
