Skate Thompson had an excellent showing at the 2020 Skate Canada Manitoba Open figure skating competition in Virden March 6-8. The event has competitors from Manitoba and Saskatchewan and was held at the Tundra Oil & Gas Place, hosted by Skate Virden.
Sydney Power dominated the women’s Star 7 short program, earning a first-place finish.
Ava White and Charly Boychuk skated circles around the competition in the Star 5 artistic event – earning second place and third place, respectively.
Both girls controlled the podium again in the pre-juvenile (under 13) freeskate event, with Ava earning a first-place finish and Charly finishing third.
Thank you to Skate Virden for hosting such a fantastic event and sharing your thriving community spirit.
Next up for Skate Thompson is the 30th-annual Stony on Ice competition held in Stony Mountain March 27-29. Many of our local skaters head south to showcase their skills for the last competition of the season. Stay tuned for results!
