From April 15-17, five athletes from the Thompson Tumblers competitive gymnastics team competed in the 2016 Edmond Financial Gymnastics Championships in Winnipeg.

Shailey Toporowsky kicked off the competition on Friday evening, competing in the advanced 14-and-over age division. Due to a double wrist injury, Shailey was not able to train and compete in the previous competitions this year, making this her first competition of the season. She received second place on the uneven bars, third on beam, and fifth on both vault and floor. She placed fourth all-around in the division.

On April 16, we had Kennedy Courvoisier and Morgan Johnson competing in the advanced 11-year-old age division. Due to the large amount of competitors in this age division, the athletes were divided into two different groups. In Group A, Kennedy vaulted her away to the podium once again receiving a silver medal. She also received fifth place on both the uneven bars and floor, and 12th on beam after an unfortunate fall. In the all-around category, Kennedy received a trophy for her impressive third-place showing. In Group B, Morgan was on the podium once again receiving a bronze medal for vault. She swung her way to victory on the uneven bars receiving a silver medal. Morgan placed 16th on beam after an unfortunate fall, and ninth on the floor. She received eighth in the all-around category.

On April 17, Nadia Wilson and Taylor Beavis competed in the intermediate 10-year-old age division. With another extremely large group of athletes in this category, the girls were divided into two separate groups. In Group A, Nadia Wilson found her place back on the podium winning second on the vault. She received another silver medal on floor, ninth on the uneven bars after an unfortunate fall, and 12th place on beam. In the all-around category, Nadia placed sixth, receiving a trophy. In Group B, Taylor Beavis placed seventh on vault, fourth on the uneven bars, 14th on beam, and sixth place on the floor. In the all-around category, Taylor received an award for placing eighth. Good job, girls! We are extremely proud of your hard work throughout the season.
