R.D. Parker Collegiate’s senior boys’ and girls’ basketball teams both qualified for the AAA high school provincials at the Zone 11 championships in Norway House March 2-3, the boys edging the Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute (MBCI) Spartans 88-84 in the final to book their ticket, while the girls went undefeated and won all of their games by more than 30 points, including the 70-31 final over the host Helen Betty Osborne Ininiw Education Resource Centre (HBO) Huskies.
The final was the closest of the four games for the Trojans, who beat MBCI 72-17, HBO 72-31 and the Mikisew Nikiks from Cross Lake 70-11 in the round robin.
The Trojan boys had closer contests, beating HBO 76-61 and MBCI 76-64 in the round robin.
The AAA high school basketball provincials will be held March 15-17 in Winnipeg.
