Manitobans who haven’t received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine will still be eligible to win one of 17 prizes in the province’s first vaccine lottery if they get jabbed by Aug. 2.
Seven $100,000 prizes will be awarded in the first draw, including three in Winnipeg and one in each of the other four health regions. Ten $25,000 scholarships will also be awarded to Manitobans between the ages of 12 and 17 who have received at least one dose of vaccine
“The sooner all eligible Manitobans get vaccinated, the sooner we can get our lives back,” said Premier Brian Pallister in a July 13 press release. “We are close to achieving all our vaccination milestones.”
76.3 per cent of Manitobans have already received at least one dose of vaccine and all super sites in the province, including the one in Thompson, are offering walk-in vaccinations July 14 with the Moderna vaccine for those 18 and over, and the Pfizer vaccine for those 12 to 17, as it is the only vaccine approved for use in Canada among people in that age group.
Anyone who gets a vaccine shot by Aug. 2 is automatically entered in the first draw. Those who get two shots by Sept. 6 are entered in the second draw, which will also offer seven $100,000 prizes and 10 scholarships.
If a winner from the first draw can’t be reacher after multiple attempts by phone, email and in person, their prize will be forfeited and added to the September draw.
