A man caught in a speed trap on Highway 6 Sept. 20 is facing more than just a traffic fine after Lundar RCMP discovered 2,000 grams of marijuana in his vehicle.
The car was stopped going northbound at a speed of 132 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre per hour zone and the driver produced a burnt marijuana cigarette when police told him they smelled marijuana in the vehicle. He was arrested and a search uncovered just over 2,000 grams of marijuana in vacuum-sealed packages as well as some Canadian currency.
Anthony Ross, 54, of The Pas, is charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking as well as for speeding and driving while disqualified. He is scheduled to appear in court in Lundar Nov. 15.
