Manitobans who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are now eligible to receive an immunization card that will exempt them from having to self-isolate after returning from travel and entitle them to expanded visitation rights at health care facilities.
Fully vaccinated people are already exempt from self-isolating if they are a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case under direction from public health officials.
“We are all eager to be able to travel, visit family and friends, and enjoy the many freedoms we have taken for granted and missed these many months,” said Premier Brian Pallister in a June 8 press release. “Getting vaccinated and following public health orders to protect each other and our health-care system is the fastest way to save our summer and get back to doing some of the things we love and see the people we miss.”
The immunization cards are available to anyone with a Manitoba health card who has received two doses of a COVID vaccine. Application for the cards can not take place until at least 14 days after the second dose has been administered. Online applications can be completed at https://immunizationcard.manitoba.ca/.
Digital proof of immunization will be available immediately after the application is completed and there is an option to request a physical card that will arrive by mail within two weeks.
The cards display only the person’s first and last name and a QR code that will show they are fully vaccinated when it is scanned.
Those without internet access can request cards by calling the insured benefits branch of Manitoba Health and Seniors Care at 204-786-7101 or toll-free at 1-800-392-1207.
Expanded visiting rights at hospitals and personal care homes will be available if both the visitors and the person they are visiting are fully vaccinated.
