An RCMP investigation in Norway House led to three arrests and the seizure of a gun, money and gang paraphernalia.
After a Nov. 6 investigation, the Manitoba RCMP North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team provided information to the Winnipeg Police Service that a man would be travelling from Norway House to Winnipeg while in possession of a gun. The Winnipeg police Tactical Support Team and Guns and Gang Unit executed a search warrant at a Winnipeg residence Nov. 8, seizing an SKS rifle, cash, drug packaging material and score sheets and Bloodz street gang paraphernalia.
Wilford Forbister, 28, of Norway House was arrested along with Sterling Owen, 24, of Winnipeg, and Jeanine Berens, 30, of Winnipeg. Forbister is charged with possessing an unauthorized firearm, storing a firearm contrary to regulations, two charges of possessing a firearm in violation of a prohibition order and failing to comply with an undertaking. Owen is charged with possessing an unauthorized firearm, storing a firearm contrary to regulations and two counts of possessing a firearm in violation of a prohibition order as well as two counts of failing to comply with the conditions of a release order and possessing proceeds of crime worth more than $5,000. Berens is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm, storing a firearm contrary to regulations, three counts of failing to comply with a release order and possessing proceeds of crime worth over $5,000.
