Two men from Lac Brochet who were snowmobiling March 9 died after their snow machine broke down and they got separated from a third man, who made it back to the community on foot.

Thompson RCMP received a report of the two men, aged 26 and 20, being found dead outside the community around 4:25 p.m. March 10.

They had been with a 31-year-old man when their snowmobile broke down on Tuesday. They got separated from the other man due to poor weather conditions.

Residents went out to search for the missing men and found them dead not far from the community and police believe they died of exposure, though they are awaiting results of an autopsy. No criminality is suspected but police and the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate pending the autopsy results.
