Crazy Pete’s owner arrested on firearms charges

Thompson RCMP searched a business and a home in the city April 28 and seized various firearms and weapons.

Thompson RCMP say they seized numerous firearms, including handguns, as well as other weapons and cash after searching a business and a residence in Thompson April 28.

Searches at a business and a residence in Thompson have led to firearms trafficking charges being laid against a 75-year-old man.

Thompson RCMP searched a business on Hayes Road and a residence on Trout Crescent on April 28 as a result of an ongoing firearms-trafficking investigation. 

Numerous new and used firearms, including handguns, were seized, police say, along with cases of ammunition, other weapons and cash.

Peter Zaworonok was arrested at the scene of one of the searches and remanded into custody on firearms trafficking and other weapons offences. He was scheduled to appear in Thompson provincial court April 29. Zaworonok is the owner of Crazy Pete’s at the corner of Hayes Road and Seal Road.

Thompson RCMP continue investigating.
