A 30-year-old Thompson man is charged with impaired driving and other offences after a pickup truck hit a parked car March 14.
Manitoba RCMP said that the truck was travelling at a high rate of speed when it smashed into a vehicle parked in front of a home around 9:45 p.m.
Multiple callers reported the incident in the Deerwood area to Thompson RCMP, who learned that that the vehicle’s driver and occupants fled on foot. Police arrested a man fitting the description of the driver a short distance away. They say he provide breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit for blood alcohol content while driving.
The man also faces charges of failing to stop at the scene of an accident, dangerous driving, mischief, careless driving, failing to report an accident and unlawful transportation of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was released from custody pending a court appearance on April 19.
